Tribute to Picasso
In various occasion, Hardi cited Picasso as one of his influence. This is what lead him to start a series of painting as a tribute to Picasso, using one of the most influential visual art styles that was creates by the maestro: cubism. Cubism was created because the artist rejected the inherited concept that art should copy nature or folow the traditional painting technique alone. Because the canvas is two-dimension, they fractured objects into geometric forms, and realigned them within a shallow relieflike space.
Playing with this style, Hardi created a series of this painting in 1999-2000. combining it his ussual expresionst style. He uses contrasting colours that makes it very modern and unique as a vocal point in every room. It's definitely a statement piece.
